What is POGIL?
POGIL is an acronym for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning. It is a student-centered, group-learning instructional strategy and philosophy developed through research on how students learn best.
FUNDAMENTALS of POGIL is an introductory workshop designed for those with limited or no previous exposure to POGIL.

Participants will engage with teammates and workshop facilitators to...

*Learn the essential elements of POGIL pedagogy and philosophy.

*Observe classroom facilitation strategies that can be used in person or virtually.

*Incorporate the development of key process skills into POGIL lessons.

*Explore the structure of POGIL activities.

Is POGIL right for you?

Middle School teachers: The POGIL Project offers several middle school science collections that are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
High School teachers: POGIL collections are available for biology and chemistry at two levels (general and AP), along with two volumes of conceptual physics aligned with NGSS.
Chemistry professors: POGIL collections are available for almost all core undergraduate courses. Also, POGIL can help address the new ACS 2023 guidelines for chemistry program approval.
Other STEM professors: Increase the amount of active learning in your classroom with POGIL activities. Existing collections include anatomy & physiology and several math courses.
Humanities teachers & professors: POGIL is not just for STEM fields! You too can help students develop their problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork by using POGIL techniques and activities in your classroom.
