Summer Conference 2014 - Preliminary Announcement

New England Association of Chemistry Teachers


Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, MA     

August 11-14, 2014

This 4-day conference will provide the opportunity to learn about the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and how they will affect our teaching.  Speakers and sessions are also designed to provide you with hands-on experience and instruction on how to enhance our teaching in today’s technology-driven environment. The Conference will also provide opportunities for networking and camaraderie.

**Special Opportunity** Graduate Credit (SCED 7006) from Fitchburg State University will be available at this conference.  The fee will be $485 (beyond the conference fee) for 2 credits.  In addition to attending the entire conference, those registering for credit will have some additional assignments.  Contact Mel Govindan ( by 7/15 if interested.    Note:  This course will only be offered if at least 6 people enroll.

This year NEACT is holding a 1-day summer conference at Clark University in Worcester, MA.   Our plan is to begin at 8:30 am with registration and light refreshments followed by a plenary lecture, a full day of short talks, workshops, and a scientist’s tour of the Worcester Art Museum led by Prof. Sudha Swaminathan.  An evening banquet and speaker will conclude the program.  We have some great speakers lined up including Sr.
