Summer Conference 2015 - Preliminary Announcement

New England Association of Chemistry Teachers

Summer Mini-Conference

“Colorful Chemistry”

Monday, August 10, 2015

Clark University, Worcester, MA

Instead of the traditional 4-day summer conference, this year NEACT is holding a mini-conference mainly because the fall ACS National Meeting is being held in Boston during the week of August 16-21. Our Conference will begin at 8:30 am with registration and light refreshments followed by a plenary lecture, a full day of short talks, workshops, and a scientist’s tour of the Worcester Art Museum led by Dr. Sudha Swaminathan, Professor of Physics.  An evening banquet and speaker will conclude the program.  For those who would like to stay overnight, we have reserved a block of rooms at a reduced rate at the local Marriott so that there will be an opportunity to meet informally afterwards.  We have some great speakers lined up including Sr. Mary Virginia Orna (noted chemical educator, ACS award winner and scholar of history, archeology, and the chemistry of color), but we are still looking for proposals for lectures, demonstrations and workshops that will complement the theme of “Colorful Chemistry.” All ideas welcome!

CEUs and PDPs will be available!

Scholarships are available!

Please submit proposals by April 1, 2015 to

Mel Govindan (mgovindan@fitchburgstate.edu)

Save the date for your NEACT Summer Experience!

For information about scholarships, contact Kathy Siok, Registrar, kathys5@cox.net

Registration information will be posted mid-May.
