Online Chem Resources and the Flipped Chemistry Classroom

The NEACT Central Division Meeting will be held at Regis College in Weston, MA in College Hall, Room 322.  Registration will open at 8:30 am and the meeting will begin at 9 am.
"Chemistry Resources--What's Free, Online and User Friendly"              Presenter:    Mary Christian-Madden
Mary will provide an overview of several online resources.  She will highlight segments from each of the following:  Annnenberg Learner’s “Chemistry:  Challenges and Solutions;” MIT’s “Behind the Scenes at MIT: Chemistry;” UColorado’s PhET simulations; Chem 1 Virtual Textbook (Stephen Lower, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver) and other virtual textbook sites; ChemReview, and, of course, Khan Academy. Participants are invited to share and comment on their experience with online sources, their  benefits, limitations, and their potential to support chemistry learning.  (Please bring your tablets, laptops, or electronics.)
“Traditional Lecture to Flipped Classroom”                               Presenter:  Erin McQuaid

Erin will present her experiences regarding transitioning from the traditional lecture format to the flipped classroom.  She will share resources,  and iPad apps as well as feedback from her students in order to initiate discussion of participants to share their thoughts and experiences with the flipped classroom.
