HOOKSETT, NH--Roy H. Upham, 86, died April 11, 2006, at Concord Regional

Hospice House.

 

He was born in Roxbury, Mass., Feb. 9, 1920, to Roy D. and Alice

C.(Gordon) Upham.He was educated in Hingham, Mass. schools and

received his bachelor's and masterŐs degrees from Boston College.

 

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War ll.

 

As a professor of chemistry at St. Anselm College for nearly 40 years, Mr.

Upham was a devoted teacher who spent countless hours with his students.

He loved teaching, spending time with his family and traveling. He was a

member of the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers, and the

Hooksettites. He also was active in the Cursillo Movement.

 

Family includes his wife of 61 years, Aurie(Duplin) Upham of Hooksett; their

children, Alice and Michael Charles Dunfey of Manchester, and Pat Upham of

Chichester, Jim and Kathy Upham, formerly of Goffstown, now of Brunswick,

Ga., Barbara and David Foster of Northfield, William Upham and Frances

Nutter-Upham of Nashua, Betty and David Griffin of Gorham, Mary Upham

and Mike Gualtieri of Ordell, N.J., Megand David Pfalzgraf of Londonderry; 24

grandchildren; two step-sisters, and four great-grandchildren; Helen White

Patricia Kelley and a step-brother, Robert McGrory, all of Massachusetts.

 

Calling hours are Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lambert Funeral

Home & Crematory, 1799 ElmSt., corner of North Street, Manchester. A Mass

of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Abbey Church, St.

Anselm College.  Burial will be in N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
